THE planned change of use of part of a domestic garage in Draughton to a dog grooming business has been given the go ahead by North Yorkshire Council.
A planning officer’s report, recommending approval, states that the change of use of part of the garage connected to Field House Farm would involve no external changes to the building and despite its elevated position is well screened. Inside will be a dog grooming table and bath area.
In conclusion, the officer states: “The use of the building for a dog grooming service is considered to be an acceptable alternative form of farm diversification. The use will allow the applicant to work from home.”
The building is closely related to the farmhouse and as such will have ‘minimal impact on the character of the countryside’.
