LONGWOOD, Bronx (WABC) — Police are asking for the public's help to find a 10-year-old dog that was stolen from a home in the Bronx earlier this month.
The female dachshund named Milkshake was taken from an apartment on Tiffany Street around 8 p.m. on May 4.
On Tuesday, authorities released photos of the two unidentified suspects they are looking for in connection to the crime.
Milkshake's owner, Monica Montanez, said it's the longest she has been away from her dog and her absence has been agonizing.
"Walking into my household is very deafening, very quiet, you know, like dealing with the silence of no snoring, no jingles, no nails on the floor," Montanez said.
She said the day Milkshake was stolen from her apartment she was hosting a birthday party for her 6-year-old son.
Montanez said it was the first time milkshake had joined the kids as they played in the hallway of the apartment, and a short time later, she was nowhere to be found.
"We jumped into action and started searching the building, so the only logical thing we could do, by 9 p.m. we were filing a police report, so the next day we were posting fliers by the afternoon," she said.
Since then, Montanez says she's been getting menacing calls with people barking and telling her to come pick up her dog.
Montanez says she recognizes the people in the surveillance video but doesn't know who they are. She's holding out hope that police are able to track them down.
"Just bring her back, you think you love her? I love her more," Montanez said.
