It was a star-studded and four-legged night as American Humane, the country’s first national humane organization, hosted its 14th Annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards Gala at The Breakers Palm Beach.
Supermodel and entrepreneur Christie Brinkley, and TV personality Carson Kressley hosted the event with a comedy set by standup comedian Rita Rudner.
Known as the “Oscars for Canines,” the gala lets guests mingle with the canine finalists from five key categories: therapy dogs, service and guide dogs, military dogs, law enforcement dogs, and shelter dogs.
The night’s big winner, the top Hero Dog, is Bo. This young bloodhound from Kentucky works with law enforcement in North Carolina as a police K9, locating lost children and tracking down robbery suspects.
The Hero Dog Awards is an annual, nationwide competition that recognizes America’s standout dogs, often ordinary dogs doing extraordinary things.
Some of the money raised at the 2025 Gala will help animals in danger in the ongoing Southern California wildfires. American Humans says it is closely monitoring the situation and stands ready to respond to protect the vulnerable animals.
The winner of the American Humane Hero Dog Award is police K9 named Bo.
