Hammer & Nails, a luxury men’s grooming salon and bar, and Bubbly Paws, a high-end dog grooming brand, are expanding into a multimillion-dollar development in Montgomery.
STORY HIGHLIGHTS
A new portion of a suburban multimillion-dollar mixed-used development is announcing its first two retail tenants.
Hammer & Nails, a luxury men’s grooming salon and bar, and Bubbly Paws, a high-end dog grooming brand, are expanding into 4,600 square feet of storefront space at the Village at Vintage Club in Montgomery.
Hammer & Nails will occupy 3,100 square feet on the first floor. The nationwide company that was featured on the ABC hit show “Shark Tank” opened its first Cincinnati-area location in Hyde Park in 2022. It offers a full menu of grooming services, including haircuts, styling, shaves, beard and mustache trimming, waxing, facial treatments, manicures and pedicures.
Although the salon will be designed with a masculine feel, all genders are welcome. In 2024, Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. became a co-owner of the company’s Hyde Park location. The brand made its debut in West Hollywood in 2013. Now, it has franchises in 17 states.
“Opening our second location at the Village at Vintage Club is a natural extension of our commitment to excellence,” Jason Cox, Hammer & Nails franchise co-owner, said in a news release. “This location perfectly complements our mission.”
Rob Murphy with Cushman & Wakefield represented Hammer & Nails in the deal.
Bubbly Paws is leasing a 1,500-square-foot space that’s also on the first floor. The company offers dog grooming along with self-service and full-service dog washing, among other luxury experiences for pets. The company first started in 2011. This will be its first Ohio location. Bubbly Paws used an out-of-state broker to help facilitate the deal.
JLL, a commercial real estate services company in Cincinnati, is handling the leasing for the project, which was developed by Traditions Building & Development, a Cincinnati-based luxury real estate developer.
JLL’s Giorgio Karras and Kevin Thobe are partners on the listing. Karras told me the two new retail tenants are a perfect fit for the development.
“The building is very unique, and the tenants are very unique,” Karras said. “Both cater to the affluent customer that resides in this market.”
The $60 million development was first announced back in 2018. It is located on Vintage Club Boulevard adjacent to the Christ Hospital Outpatient Center on Montgomery Road.
It offers 68 acres of village-style living with more than 12 acres of green space and pocket parks. The retail portion is divided into multiple buildings. The building housing Hammer & Nails and Bubbly Paws is known as the “1010 Building,” and it still has space available. Karras said he’s hoping to get it mostly leased within the next six to eight months.
There is roughly 4,000 square feet of space available on the first floor and around 5,000 square feet of dedicated restaurant space on the second floor. The third floor is reserved for office users. JLL has been in talks with some high-end fitness businesses and various restaurant concepts, but nothing has been made official as of this posting.
The overall property is surrounded by landscaped sidewalks and walking trails that create a pedestrian-friendly area. The development also offers immediate access to Interstate 275 and is a little more than a mile away from 1-71.
Scott Humes, vice president of development for Traditions Building & Development, said he’s beyond excited to start welcoming new tenants.
“At Traditions, creating Cincinnati’s most distinctive lifestyle communities has been our focus for over 45 years,” Humes said in the release.
Both Hammer & Nail and Bubbly Paws are slated to open in the spring of 2025.
