'Crazy' dog from Cumbria wins first at prestigious dog show – The Mail

A dog-lover and her ‘crazy’ pooch, who took part in a Crufts competition this weekend, won first place in their class.
Local dog trainer, Georgina Mellor, attended Day Three of Crufts at The NEC in Birmingham with her furry four-legged friend.
Dogs and owners from around the world have come together across several days of competitions, to strut their stuff in front of the judges.

Georgina owns Furness Dog Training and runs classes for beginners and puppies at Lindal Village Hall in Ulverston.
Sassy, who’s kennel name is ‘Tallistar Crazy In Love’, was entered for Flat Coated Retriever, Limit Bitch, and won first place.

This energetic, star of the show ring was born in January 2020 and was bred by Georgina’s cousin, Emma Curtis.
“I was there from day one to help raise her,” Georgina said, “She came to live with me and my Fiancée, Sam at eight weeks old, just as lock down hit!
“She has made us laugh every single day since.”

However, Sassy is qualified for life as she’s gained her stud book number.
“Sass is very well known as being a lunatic,” Georgina said, “We’ve had such a journey in the show ring building up her confidence, as at first she was very nervous but now she’s won several top places at championship shows and loves being in the ring. I couldn’t be any prouder of her.”
Georgina said Flat Coated Retrievers had the fifth highest entry of all the breeds at Crufts over the four days.
Georgina said she had a ‘lovely’ day at the competition with friends and her two sisters, Rebecca Mellor-Algar and Ava-Grace Mellor.
