BARTLESVILLE, Okla. — The soon-to-be world’s smallest living working dog is living in Bartlesville.
Sasha is a 2.5 pound teacup yorkie. Her owner, Kristin Fournier, has a pituitary brain tumor.
“I feel very blessed and safe because I know I’ll be okay with her,” Kristin said.
A year after adopting Sasha, the yorkie started alerting her before having an episode.
“She can detect when my blood pressure is high, she can detect if a seizure is going to happen, she can detect if my hormone levels drop,” Kristin said.
Kristin said Sasha was never trained to be a working dog — she taught herself.
“It was just like instinct I guess on her part, she just knew,” Kristin said.
She may be small, but she has a big heart.
“She gets stopped like crazy and people start opening up, and they start telling me about how either they’ve lost their dog and they needed this,” Kristin said. “I hear that a lot, ‘oh, I am so happy I’ve seen her because she just brightened my day.'”
Now at just 2.5 pounds, she’s on her way to the record book.
“I reached out and asked if they would be willing to make another world record title, I wanted it to be ‘world’s smallest living working dog,’ and they did, they accepted it,” Kristin said.
Kristin said all that’s left for Sasha to officially be the world’s smallest living working dog is for her to submit the official paperwork.
