WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. News & World Report’s 360 Reviews revealed the most popular dog names across the United States from new pet industry research.
360 Reviews analyzed 811,000 data points for the “Most Popular Dog Name in Each State.”
They found the number one most popular dog name in the U.S. is Bella, the second most popular is Luna, and the third most popular is Max.

“We analyzed dog names from Alaska to Florida and every state in-between to uncover Americans’ favorite pup names,” said Scott Nyerges, U.S. News’ 360 Reviews senior editor. “It turns out we love a lot of the same dog names — and Fido nor Spot nor Rover even made the top 100 list. Instead, Americans in 2023 are big fans of name references from books in modern pop culture and ancient mythology.”
