RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The dogs are out in Rapid City this weekend as the 150th Rapid City Kennel Club Dog Show takes over Barnett Fieldhouse at The Monument.
The all-breed dog show will feature almost 400 furry friends showcasing the best of their talents throughout the whole weekend. The shows kick off at 9 a.m. on October 18, 19, and 20.
Guests will have the opportunity to see some of the country’s most rare dog breeds, visit local vendors, attend puppy classes, and even get some training tips of their own.
Barbara Peterson Parr is a local dog owner, and trainer who plans on showcasing some of her very own dogs this weekend. She says the best part of the event is seeing the community react to different breeds of dogs, along with how beneficial it can be for the economy. The show usually attracts people from all over the country.
“We’ve been doing this since 1977, that’s when we brought the first dog show into The Monument. It’s great for the economy of Rapid City, people come, shop, spend money, eat in the restaurants, and stay for four days,” Peterson Parr said.
The Rapid City Kennel Club Dog Show is free for anyone to attend. Doors open at the Barnett Fieldhouse at 8 a.m. all weekend.
