MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) – The DogPlex is a new dog daycare that opened on Wednesday.
Terri Stewart and Harold DeFrieze are the owners of The DogPlex, located at 400 24th St in Moline.
DeFrieze said he wanted to open the dog plex because he often had trouble finding the right daycare fit for his dog. The DogPlex offers a large play area as well as a couch area for the dogs to relax.
“I wanted a place that felt more like a home. And I wanted a spot that just wasn’t too clean, but wasn’t too messy either. Just kind of like a nice, relaxing place where the dogs can go. And we’ve got the open space here for them to run around. But we’ve also got a couple spaces a lot like, like a home where there’s couches and chairs and stuff for them to play on,” says DeFrieze.
Stewart says the first day of business went great and community members are already showing interest.
“The gentleman that we that came in today to check the place out was really excited about that, because he was like, oh, yeah, my, my baby just loves to cuddle. Like, she’ll just love to lay on the couch and hang out with you guys. And it’s a great like he said, it’s a homey feel. And it’s a good alternative to just a sterile environment all day”
The DogPlex is open Monday- Friday from 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. and offers daycare services and overnight services. Daycare services are during business hours and cost $25 a day or $400 a month. Overnight services are $50 per 24-hour period and $25 for each additional dog.
DeFrieze says it’s just the beginning but they will soon offer an outdoor area for the dogs. “By June, I want to have the back area fenced in. So we really have an additional space. That way, if we do have say 20 or 30 dogs, we can have some in here some in the living room, some outside some of the kennels relaxing and just really spaced them out and give them all the space they need,” said DeFrieze.
