Myra Brahms has a genuine concern for others, especially children.
She and her therapy dog, a mini Goldendoodle Zoey, work together to help people facing difficulties or needing compassionate support.
A counselor at Westchester Elementary School in Coral Springs, Brahms, and Zoey have completed 400 visits in the local community.

The two were recently honored by former President Joe Biden with the Volunteer Gold Award, where she received a certificate, gold pin, award ribbon, and letter from Biden during a presentation from the Bonafide Therapy Dog Organization.
Brahms shares that Zoey’s visits to the Ronald McDonald House in Miami, hospitals, and nursing homes have been a source of joy for many. “Zoey’s presence brings a smile to the faces of sick children, encouraging them to build confidence and helping them cope with anxiety and anger,” said Brahms.
Brahms and Zoey create a unique reading experience for children at the Northwest Regional Library in Coral Springs. “Reading to Zoey is not just about improving literacy; it’s about the joy and confidence it brings to children,” she said.
At Westchester, Zoey and Brahms bring a unique learning experience to every classroom, and Zoey’s visits promote empathy and respect for animals and create a warm and caring atmosphere.
