Police are investigating a theft from a dog grooming business in West Hartford on Christmas Day.
The theft occurred around 1 p.m. at the Wagging Tails Pet Resort and Spaw on New Park Avenue, the business wrote in a post on Facebook.
According to Wagging Tails, two individuals entered the lobby and reached over the counter, stealing cash tips from customers, gifts, retail products and personal items of the staff, including credit cards. The theft occurred as staff were busy tending to clients’ pets “not anywhere near” the animals, the business wrote.
No injuries were reported.
According to Wagging Tails, the individuals fled the area following the theft and tried using the stolen credit cards at businesses in New Britain and Hartford.
“Now staff members have to endure the hardship of lost cash and cancelling credit cards, while the business suffers a loss on a holiday,” the grooming business wrote.
Capt. Peter Juda of the West Hartford Police Department confirmed on Friday that the incident was reported to police. He said the investigation is active at this time and did not release any further details.
