Pet groomer to host open day with pup-accinos and prosecco – Braintree and Witham Times

A PET groomer who swapped catching criminals for pets is celebrating her business with an open event filled with pup-accinos and prosecco.
Betty and Bertie’s Pet Grooming has been based in Springfield Industrial Estate, Braintree for two and a half years, and it now hosts a variety of furry friends.
Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and even rabbits come to Jo van Zanten’s business to enjoy luxurious treatment and have their grooming needs taken care of.
A former constable in the Essex Police force, Jo initially started as a dog grooming business and survived lockdown by seeing clients at home.
Since refurbishing her premises and expanding to grooming a variety of animals, she has looked forward to properly celebrating going from “strength to strength”.

“I want Betty and Bertie’s to continue to grow, supporting clients and their pets and grooming needs whether that is dogs, cats, guinea pigs, or rabbits, and being able to offer that for the foreseeable future.”
Jo said working in the police force was the best training she could’ve had for running her own business, before she knew she wanted a change.

“I did the training and loved it, and I’ve never looked back.
“A highlight is gaining the trust of nervous and anxious dogs, as its job satisfaction like no other.
“I care much more about the emotional and physical welfare of the pets in our care above the aesthetics—we want them to look lovely, but our priority is always their welfare.”

She said: “I love helping them. I love the standard grooming but working with nervous and anxious dogs is where my strongest passion is.”
At her open day, guests can enjoy tea, coffee, or prosecco, while fluffy visitors will get pup-accinos with whipped cream and a fake flake.
The open event will be on Sunday, February 23, from 1pm to 4pm at unit 20-21, Block B, 42 Springwood Drive, Braintree.
