TULSA, Okla. – According to court records, the owner of a Tulsa dog grooming business where a 4-year-old poodle was beaten to death by an employee has been charged in connection with the case.
Rebecca Rutherford is charged with one count of accessory to a felony and one count of obstructing an officer, according to court records. Prosecutors charged Rutherford on Oct. 10.Â

Atlas eventually had a seizure during the grooming session and stopped breathing on the grooming table and Angel and Rutherford tried to perform CPR before taking him to a nearby animal hospital for treatment, according to Tulsa Animal Welfare investigators.Â
Atlas died at the animal hospital and a necropsy was performed to determine his cause of death.

The petition has garnered more than 17,000 signatures in a little over a month.
