That woman was identified as 65-year-old Harriette Phillips.
The attack happened at a home near North Wayside Drive and Little York Road.
Following the deadly attack, KPRC 2 filed an open records request and obtained a BARC Animal Control report which indicates an officer was dispatched to the same house in October of 2019 because a caller had reported that a tan pit bull chased her and tried to attack her.
On March 23 of this year, Houston Police officers responded to find Phillips attacked in her own backyard.
The pit bulls had reportedly broken through a shared fence and Phillips’ body was found on grass right next to the back door of the house.
The animal control report states officers learned there were three pit bulls; a black and white male Staffordshire Terrier named ‘Boosie,’ a white and brown female Staffordshire Terrier named ‘Sophie,’ and a white and brown Staffordshire Terrier named ‘Cleo.’
The owner of the dogs reportedly told the officer ‘Cleo’ recently had puppies, but he no longer had possession of them.
According to the animal control report, the officer told the owner of the dogs that the dogs would need to be seized because they were involved in a human death.
The report states the owner agreed and “didn’t want to keep the dogs anyway after seeing what they did to her.”
BARC confirmed with KPRC 2 last month that the dogs were euthanized.
The Harris County Medical Examiner ruled Phillips’ manner of death as accidental and the cause of death as multiple blunt and sharp force injuries.
