Man captured on video beating puppy and dog (Video) – Mid Hudson News Website

BRIARCLIFF MANOR – SPCA Westchester has arrested a Yonkers man on two counts of animal cruelty.
Roger Andrews was captured on video on November 18 severely beating a male puppy named Champ and a female dog named Pretty Girl.
The video shows Champ being whipped with a thick rope leash and screaming. Other footage shows Andrews kicking, punching and throwing the two dogs.
Neither dog is owned by Andrews, who had them in his possession temporarily to walk them for their owners.
“By some miracle, Champ and Pretty Girl did not sustain any serious injuries,” said Shannon Laukhuf, SPCA Westchester’s chief executive officer. “We are so thankful that these innocent animals were seized by our Humane Law Enforcement Unit before it was too late.”
Andrews was held overnight for an open warrant on an unrelated case and arraigned on Tuesday.
If you witness or suspect an animal is being neglected or abused, you are urged to call the SPCA’s confidential cruelty hotline at 914-941-7797.
