Hundreds take part in Hair of the Dog Run in Spartanburg on New Year's Day, see photos – Spartanburg Herald Journal

It is now a part of a New Year’s Day tradition for many in Spartanburg to start the New Year running in the annual Hair of the Dog fun run.
The 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) runs take the runners to points in Spartanburg, starting and ending at the Thomas E. Hannah YMCA.
Many runners take their dogs on the run. It is not a race, but first across the finish line in the 5K at a time of 18.14 minutes was Spartanburg High School’s Nicholas Rhoden, 17.
“I like the Hair of the Dog run,” he said. “I am a Spartanburg High School track and cross county runner and have run most of the areas before. I’ve trained on this route before. It is a great time running with others.”
