Great Dane living in Germany may be the world’s tallest dog – Live 5 News WCSC

(Gray News) – A Great Dane in Germany is vying to be named the tallest dog in the world.
Ramses weighs about 200 pounds and is a contender for the record of tallest dog.
His owner recently had the Great Dane measured in order to submit his height to the Guinness Book of World Records. At this time, it appears Ramses’ official height has not been announced.
Ramses’ owner says he is a gentle giant but is not so gentle when it comes to his food. He eats about four pounds of food every day.
The title of tallest living dog in the world is currently vacant after the previous record holder, Kevin, died in June 2024. The 3-year-old Great Dane became sick and died after an unplanned surgery just days after his title was announced.
The record for the tallest dog ever is held by another Great Dane named Zeus. According to Guinness World Records, Zeus was 3 feet and 5.18 inches tall. He officially earned the title in 2022.
Zeus died after a battle with bone cancer in September 2023 at the age of 3.
