East Valley indoor dog park offers Arizona heat relief – Arizona's Family

CHANDLER, AZ (AZFamily) — During several continuous days of extreme heat, dog owners in the Valley may be looking for any option to get their pup exercised while staying safe from the triple-digit temps.
Boasting an indoor dog park, Mak Pack in Chandler offers exactly that experience.
The indoor park has 10,000 square feet of air-conditioned space for dogs to run, play and burn off all the built-up summer energy. Mak Pack also has a location in Tempe, but the Chandler location is the only one with an indoor dog park.
“Over the summer months, June, July, August and even into September, it’s super, super busy, but over the winter months, October, November, we encourage you guys to go back outside,” said Spencer Mak, owner and head trainer at Mak Pack. “Right now for the summer, we want to offer relief, and we want to offer that safe space to get the wiggles out for all the puppies.”
Mak said the indoor park is a good option for dog owners to not have to wake up before sunrise to walk their dogs.
“It’s just too hot,” he said. “The trails are closed, the dog parks, and even the aquatic dog parks are too hot.”
The indoor park also offers obstacles for dogs to climb on, a bounce house, relief poles and hoops to jump through. There’s even a self-operated dog wash if your pup gets dirty.
The Mak Pack offers a $10 drop-in weekday day pass with in-and-out privileges for the day and a $49 monthly pass with access seven days a week from open to close. It’s open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Updated vaccination records are required for entry, which is something else that Mak said sets this park apart from city parks.
“We’re not a traditional public dog park,” he said. “We’re going to screen for vaccinations. You’ve got to have an account with us. And we’re going to screen for behaviors and temperament.”
