One ordinary day in Los Angeles, California, a driver noticed something unusual while exiting the highway—a pair of small, black ears peeking through the bushes near the exit ramp. At first glance, the driver thought it might be a coyote. But as they looked closer, they realized it was actually a dog, a frightened German Shepherd mix, nervously watching the traffic whiz by. This poor dog, later named Miracle, had been living near the highway for weeks. Over time, her hope for rescue seemed to fade as countless cars sped past without stopping.
But on that day, everything was about to change. Determined to help, the driver posted about Miracle’s location on social media, sparking a wave of concern among local animal lovers. Volunteers quickly organized to try and save her, but Miracle, overwhelmed with fear, ran off the moment anyone approached.
The search seemed hopeless, but Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, heard about the dog and refused to give up. Hall was deeply concerned when she learned there had been a dangerous accident in the area and worried that Miracle might have been hurt. She reached out to locals, asking them to notify her immediately if the dog returned.
After days of waiting, Miracle was spotted again. Without hesitation, Hall rushed to the location, bringing her trusty rescue trap. When she arrived, she found the dog curled up in her usual spot near the bushes, trembling with fear. Hall knew she had to act carefully to keep both of them safe.
“It was so dangerous for her and for me,” Hall shared in a Facebook post. “Cars were zooming by, and one wrong move could’ve been disastrous.”
Navigating the traffic, Hall set up her trap near Miracle’s hiding spot and backed away, hoping the tempting treats inside would lure her in. To Hall’s immense relief, the plan worked—Miracle entered the trap. When Hall returned to find the frightened dog safely secured, she couldn’t help but cry tears of joy.
Gently, Hall comforted Miracle and transported her to the vet for a thorough checkup. Fortunately, the dog was in good health despite her ordeal. A close friend of Hall’s, Jeanette, offered to foster Miracle, giving her a chance to experience love and safety in a home environment for the first time.
Now living with Jeanette, Miracle is finally able to rest peacefully, far from the chaos of the highway. While she waits for her forever family, she’s thriving under her foster mom’s care, enjoying a newfound sense of security and hope for the future.
We are eternally grateful for Suzette Hall and the other volunteers with Logan’s Legacy. Because of their hard work, many precious lives have been saved. We have no doubt that Miracle will find a loving forever home.
