MILLINGTON, Md. – A pet dog is credited with saving its owner’s life as her camper trailer burned on April 11.
According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the occupant was sleeping inside the camper when it broke out into flames. After the dog woke her up, the woman tried to extinguish the fire to no avail. The victim was able to escape the burning trailer with some of her pets. However, two pet cats remain unaccounted for.
Firefighters put the fire out in about 15 minutes. Investigators believe it was sparked by an electrical failure. The flames caused about $10,000 in damage.
The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting her.
