In memory of Tristan Randall, and in honour of his 21st birthday on November 3, the family will host a special charity event at Walkhaven Dog Park, in partnership with Dogs Trust.
A Ruimsig resident, Tristan died in a head-on collision with a truck on September 6. Michelle Kleer spoke on behalf of the family and described Tristan as a beautiful, compassionate spirit, with a deep love for people and animals. He treated everyone with the same kindness and respect.

His passion for helping extended, not only to those around him, but also to animals, and he was pursuing a career in psychology to further make a difference. He adopted his dogs from Dogs Trust.
This event will also honour the family and their incredible strength. “As a close family friend, I am committed to supporting them during this challenging time,” Kleer said. “I can empathise with the pain they are going through, having faced a tragic loss in my own family. Being an avid dog lover, I wholeheartedly support this cause, and the essential work carried out by Dogs Trust.”
She added that Kirsten, Tristan’s mother, is deeply heartbroken, and the loss has devastated his father, Wayne, and brother, Jordan. They are supporting each other as best they can through this immense grief.
“The family hopes to raise as much awareness and donations for Dogs Trust as humanly possible. The event will feature a pop-up vaccination and adoption drive, agility demonstrations, and a performance by Sean Quinn. Market stalls, food, and drinks will be available, and guests can also bring a picnic.”

Entrance is R40 for adults and R30 for pensioners and children.
All proceeds will go to Dogs Trust, an organisation that rescues abused and neglected animals, educates communities, and intervenes in dog-fighting situations. With monthly veterinary costs between R60 000 and R100 000, every donation helps with their essential work.
The event promises to be a meaningful and fun-filled day. “Every contribution helps us keep his spirit alive and make a difference.”
