Buffalo Bills long snapper Reid Ferguson has been named a nominee for the "Salute to Service Award presented by USAA," which honors a league member who demonstrates an exemplary commitment to honoring and supporting the military community.
Ferguson was nominated for his work with Buffalo-Niagara Honor Flight, Meet and Greet Happy Hour and Lunch event, which benefits the Veterans One-Stop Center of WNY and provides local vets with lunch and drinks, Erie County Vets & Pets program, and Grills Mafia, an apparel line of BBQ x Bills Mafia t-shirts, which benefits Western New York food-based and veteran charities.
"Military servicemembers, veterans and their families are unique, and so are the ways in which the nominees for this season’s Salute to Service Award presented by USAA show appreciation for the military community," said Major General (Ret.) Bob Whittle, USAA senior vice president and chief of staff. "As NFL fans cast their votes, we hope the examples set by each nominee will lead to increased action by fans to honor, support and connect with all those who serve."
Finalists for the award are scheduled to be announced in January. The recipient will be recognized at the NFL Honors awards show, which is set to air the week of the Super Bowl. Last year\’s recipient, Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, will serve on the award selection panel.
New this year, fans can vote for their favorite nominee at NFL.com/SaluteFanVote from now until Nov. 30.
