Police shoot dog after it attacked officer, two other dogs at Perth's Trigg Beach
Police have shot dead a dog at a popular Perth beach after the animal became aggressive towards officers and attacked a number of other smaller dogs.
Authorities were called to a car park in Trigg Beach just before 7pm on Tuesday, with police finding a car at the site they believe was stolen earlier in the day.
Police say officers tried to speak to the 39-year-old driver of the car, but the woman fled down a beach track.
An American staffy dog that was with the woman became aggressive towards officers, and capsicum spray was deployed.
Police say the dog then attacked two small dachshunds being walked on a path, and an officer was forced to shoot the larger dog when attempts to separate the animals failed.
The smaller dogs were taken to the vet for emergency medical treatment.
The woman was arrested at the scene and charged with stealing a motor vehicle, having no authority to drive and breaching bail conditions.
She is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
