Graphic video shows dog being dragged in Winslow; animal control officer on leave – Arizona's Family

WINSLOW, AZ (AZFamily) — An animal control officer is on paid administrative leave after a graphic video showed him dragging a dog while on the job in Winslow during the weekend.
Police said the officer was sent to the area near Apache Road and Cherry Street on Saturday to capture a dog that was roaming around.
A viewer sent to Arizona’s Family shows the officer dragging the large dog with a catch pole. The dog is breathing heavily in the video.
“You’re choking him, dude,” said a man.
“He’s not going to die,” the officer said.
Police said the officer loaded the dog into the impound vehicle and took off.
An animal abuse complaint was made on Monday.
Investigators said a veterinarian examined the dog, and it’s said to be in good health.
Police are looking into the matter and are asking for patience from the public.
“Currently, we ask the public to provide this department with the opportunity to complete the investigation and upon conclusion of the investigation, provide the conclusion to the public,” the Winslow Police Department said in a statement.
