MASSAPEQUA, NY — A Massapequa man was arrested Sunday night and charged with animal cruelty, police said.
Andrew Laurendi, 21, was also terminated from his employment at Pawlywood in Massapequa due to animal cruelty, police said.
Laurendi was observed on video swinging several dogs above his head by the leash attached to their necks. He would let go of the leashes and the dogs fell to the ground, police said. Laurendi smashed a dog’s face into a fence multiple times, authorities said.
At least one dog suffered serious injury, police said.
Laurendi was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and torturing or injuring an animal/failure to provide sustenance, police said. He was issued an appearance ticket to return on Thursday, Dec. 21 when he is expected to be arraigned.
