Why is it still a shoe?

The carriage changed back into a pumpkin and the horses turned back into mice, but Cinderella’s glass slipper kept on being magically there after midnight. Someone needs to explain this.

Explain that!

Just because the laws of physics don’t apply in your universe doesn’t mean anything goes and I will have words with this fairy land.

The text doesn’t explicitly say the godmother is a fairy but the fact that she has a magic wand and can change rats into coachmen does imply certain qualities. Be that as it may, she had to scoop out the pumpkin seeds before turning the pumpkin into a carriage. Why?

If she had just waved the wand and turned the pumpkin into a carriage without cleaning it first, Cinderella would have taken the hand of the lizard-turned footman (or claw) and stepped up, another lizard man would have opened the door, and her spectacular dress would have been covered in pumpkin seeds? Why?

You mean, she can just wave the wand and the mice not only turn into horses but know how to pull a carriage (my horse can’t do that without a lot of training) but the pumpkin has to be cleaned out?

In the kingdom where Cinderella lived, they either did shoes in sizes like 6.02, 6.03, 6.04… or she had massive bunyons or some other deformation. If you were from out of town and went to the shoe store in that kingdom, and said you were size 8, the shoemaker would have to ask you if you were rounding up from 7.94 or down from 8.09, because there is exactly one pair of shoes that fit each pair of feet.

And then, when Cinderella’s fancy clothes turned back into rags at midnight, and the horses scurried off as mice, and the coachman turned back into a rat and bit her, and she found herself inside of an exploded pumpkin, somehow the shoe was still a shoe.

Even the shoe Cinderella still had, the one she didn’t lose, was still a shoe and she kept that as secondary evidence. She kept that later so that she could prove that she was the one wearing the slippers, which suggests a conspiracy to me. And all of that stuff would have happened right at the palace because unless she took off the other shoe, she ran down the stairs with one shoe on and one shoe off and she would have stumbled into the carriage like a drunk.

The fairy godmother let Cinderella work like slave for a couple of years while her weak father didn’t say a word. Then, this ball comes around and all of a sudden godmother reveals her magic powers.

Where were you when I had to sleep on the hard ground for three years?
