Community businesses rally around injured, abandoned dog – WNYT.com

Several area businesses are hosting fundraisers to help Lavender the dog.
Lavender was found in Schenectady nearly two weeks ago, with severe face and head injures. She had broken teeth, and it appears her ear had been cut off.
As Lavender recovers at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, the shelter is thanking four businesses who have collected donations.
The Speckled Hen in Glenville is collecting money until Saturday.
Crackling Embers Candle Company is donating a portion of its candle sales.
The Nest 518 recently raised more than $2,700 through a cocktail fundraiser.
Dogtopia of Latham and Clifton Park is donating $1,000.
There has been an arrest in Lavender’s case, but the suspect is only accused of abandoning the dog while she was hurt.
Police are still working to find out who injured Lavender.
