Patrol officers find dog

According to South China Morning Post, two highway patrol officers then took the dog back to their workplace kitchen and cooked it for eight employees.
The company’s representative said the officers had assumed it was a stray and had eaten it.
The rep also claimed that when the two patrol officers found the dog, it showed no signs of life and its tongue was hanging out.
The rep said: “They assumed it was a stray dog and, since it was already dead, decided to handle it privately.”
In 2020, Shenzhen became the first Chinese city to ban cat and dog meat consumption.
SCMP also cited a lawyer from China as stating that both the boarding centre and the highway company could be liable for compensation.
The owner has said she would sue and donate the money to charity.
Online reactions have been overwhelmingly critical of the actions of the officers, with one comment highlighted by SCMP, stating: “Even a stray dog should be buried with dignity. How could anyone be so heartless as to eat it?”
