With more than 26.5 million senior dogs in the U.S.,1 this collaboration aims to address the growing need for specialized care in aging pets.
“We are thrilled to join forces with the Senior Dog Veterinary Society,” says Dr. Stephanie H. Loter, medical strategic lead, Pain Management, at Elanco Animal Health. “As pets live longer lives, their health needs evolve, and this partnership will help ensure that senior dogs receive the care and attention they deserve to thrive in their golden years.”
The partnership provides veterinary professionals with educational events, certifications, and resources focused on senior dog care. Certification programs include Level 1 (fundamentals of senior care) and Level 2 (specialized care), offering 14.5 hours of RACE-approved CE. These initiatives aim to enhance practitioner expertise and credibility with pet owners.
A key focus of the alliance is osteoarthritis (OA), the leading cause of chronic pain in aging dogs,2 and bringing more information and education to veterinarians and pet owners.
