For the second year in a row, the French Bulldog tops the list of most popular dog breeds.

Each year, the American Kennel Club ranks the most popular dog breeds. They use registration statistics to determine the rankings.

The Labrador Retriever held top place for over three decades – an impressive record! However, in the last couple of years, the French Bulldog has taken over as the most popular breed. This has pushed the Lab down to second place.

According to the AKC, French Bulldogs are smart, playful, and adaptable. These traits likely explain their popularity. Frenchies have bat-like ears and flat faces. They travel well and adapt comfortably to a variety of lifestyles.

On the downside, Frenchies are a brachycephalic breed. This means they’re prone to breathing problems because of their short noses.
