Most dog owners treat their furry companions as cherished family members, nurturing the bond that makes this relationship so unique. Unfortunately, not all dogs are so fortunate, and Isabella’s story is a heartbreaking example of this reality.
Isabella was kept chained outside on a short lead, neglected and unloved. Her owner refused to provide her with basic necessities like food or water, leaving her survival in the hands of compassionate neighbors who would secretly feed and hydrate her. Despite their efforts, it was clear this was not a long-term solution. Isabella’s sole purpose in her owner’s eyes was to breed puppies for profit, and her life was void of love or kindness.
One of the neighbors, unable to bear Isabella’s suffering any longer, made the crucial decision to contact a rescue group for help. This act of compassion set the stage for Isabella’s chance at a new life—a life where she could finally experience the love and care every dog deserves.
The team from The Happy Doggo wasted no time in responding to the call for help. Upon arriving, they were met with a heartbreaking sight: Isabella, confined to a painfully short chain that left her with almost no freedom to move. The tight lead had taken a physical and emotional toll on her, and her discomfort was evident. The rescuers were deeply moved by the scene, their hearts aching for the dog who had endured so much.
The neighbors who had been secretly aiding Isabella explained her tragic situation in greater detail. They shared that Isabella had spent her entire life tethered to that chain, her world reduced to a few feet of dirt. Despite their best efforts to provide her with food and water, they knew this was not a life worth living. The rescuers understood the urgency of the situation and resolved to give Isabella the chance at freedom and love she had never known.
Despite the horrible things Isabella had been through, she was such a happy dog. She eagerly greeted her rescuers by wagging her tail and smiling. They desperately wanted to take Isabella with them right away, but they needed the owner to surrender her. The team from Happy Doggo reached out to authorities and other rescue groups for assistance. They started negotiating with the owner to see if he would be willing to release her. They realized it would be challenging, but it was necessary.
Merida is a senior who was found abandoned in a backyard with her sibling who had passed away. She was left to fend for herself as an 11-year-old with diabetes. Thankfully, Kanoa Rescue Foundation stepped in to save her, but she still needs your help!
After a lengthy process, he finally agreed to let her go. The rescuers brought her to a foster home where she could begin her recovery. Under their care, she underwent an amazing transformation. It was evident from the start that she was a very social dog, and this became increasingly clear as she settled in.

@happydoggoniall This gorgeous girl has been tied up on an incredibly short chain for her entire life, used for breeding. This is her story of freedom and her new life… Beautiful Isabella has been chained up since she was three months old, made to have puppies at just a year old herself.
We can’t go into too much detail but because she was on private property, we couldn’t just take her. She’d only managed to survive because kind locals had been sneaking her food and water. The conditions she was living in were terrible and local authorities had to get involved to get her free. You can see how delighted she was to have her freedom. Now she’s with us at Happy Doggo land and the rest of her life starts here. Her puppies have also found homes where they’ll be loved and looked after. Lovely Isabella will never need to go back to that place again Isabella would not have made it were it not for the help of a kind local feeder and concerned locals. They were able to bring in food and water on a regular basis to keep er alive. They were also able to take the puppies away and find them homes. Getting Isabella herself released was not easy and took a lot of negotiation and help in the background where both Samui Street Dogs and Bern from @soidogfoundationofficial were intrumental.
