Myers Park family hoping safe return of their dog after camera captures dog being stolen – WBTV

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Logan Humphrey and her family say their Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Pete “Pee Dee” was taken from their home while outside for a brief potty break.
A neighbor’s home surveillance camera captured the moment on Thursday afternoon leading up to his disappearance.
On Saturday, WBTV spoke to Pete’s owner, Logan Humphreys about his disappearance.
“I saw the tail lights of the exchange of him going through this car door window, and driving off. I saw them driving off,” shared Humphreys.
Humphreys said she let him out in their backyard, but she realized he escaped to the front yard. That is where she said she saw a sliver SUV which she believes to be a Honda CR-V driving off with him.
“Immediately I felt relieved like oh someone got him out of the streets, someone got him out of the rain and they’re likely gonna pull over and call the number that’s on his collar,” said Humphreys.
Unfortunately, Humphreys said hours went by with no call.
“By 5:30 no call, It really started sinking in that someone has taken this dog, so we’re still with these feelings,” Humphreys explained.
Humphries said Pete became part of the family over the summer after their 13-year-old king cavalier passed away.
Pee Dee is black, tan and white, with a thin white line between his eyes. He also has a little brown spot on his muzzle.
The Humphries hope to have their furry family member returned safely.
“We’re just very hopeful that at any point that we can get any leads on the car that took him and finding a license tag number and maybe having that. That seems like a very good lead. Or that whoever took him, I hope it reaches them or somebody who might know anything,” shared Humphreys
Humphreys said her family has filed a police report.
The family is offering a $500 reward for Pete’s return. Anyone with information is asked to call 864-380-6922 or 864-354-9491.
