When Clay first noticed Tappie, she was rummaging through garbage near a construction site in North Georgia. Workers would toss scraps of food her way, but none of them could get close enough to touch her. Tappie was wary and avoided people at all costs. Determined to help, Clay began visiting the area multiple times a week, bringing her treats in hopes of gaining her trust and getting her off the streets. Though Tappie appreciated Clay’s kindness, she kept her guard up and maintained her distance.
Still, Clay didn’t give up. He left food for her, sat on the ground nearby, spoke softly, and called her with a gentle tone. Over time, Tappie began to see that Clay meant no harm. She slowly started to inch closer, but her fear still held her back, and she wouldn’t fully approach him.
Then, one day, she made a breakthrough. Tappie cautiously came up to Clay, took a treat from his hand, and lay down beside him. It was a sign of trust, and Clay’s heart swelled with happiness. He lay down next to her, giving her affectionate pets, knowing that he had finally earned her trust. At that moment, Clay decided he was taking her home.
He gently lifted Tappie and placed her in his truck. As soon as she joined Clay and his fiancée, Jenny, at their home, Tappie felt secure. Her gratitude was evident, and she quickly showed her true, loving nature.
The couple took her to the vet for a full checkup. Tappie was diagnosed with a few health issues that required treatment, and she had no microchip. From the vet’s findings, they concluded that she had been spayed and once had an owner.
Jenny began searching shelter records and social media for any trace of Tappie’s past. Eventually, she found a photo of Tappie posted a month before Clay first saw her. It turned out that Tappie had been briefly adopted but then neglected. The discovery was heartbreaking for both Clay and Jenny.
Over time, they formed an unbreakable bond with Tappie and made the decision to keep her as part of their family. The couple is planning their wedding for June 2025 and wants Tappie to be at the center of their lives.
Once a frightened and overlooked dog, Tappie is now thriving and enjoying her life with her new family. Her new parents cherish her, and she revels in the affection and cuddles she gets every day. Thanks to Clay’s patience and dedication, Tappie’s faith in people was restored, and she found the loving home she deserved. Check out Tappie’s rescue video below. It’s incredible!
