Rocky Kanaka is a TV host with a passion for helping dogs in need. On his show “Dog’s Day Out,” he takes shelter dogs on incredible adventures, using the spotlight to help them find loving homes. Back in February 2019, Rocky took a shelter dog shopping and bought everything the dog touched. The video became a viral hit and led to the dog’s adoption. Inspired by the success, Rocky decided to film a sequel.
This time, he chose a special needs dog named Freddie Mercury for the shopping spree. He brought her to a pet store and bought her everything she showed interest in.
At the start of the video, Rocky shared Freddie’s heartbreaking story.
Freddie was found in a pile of trash, suffering from multiple broken bones and severe malnutrition. She also had two sets of teeth, which made eating difficult for her. Rescuers rushed her to the vet, where she underwent surgery. Afterward, the rescue group Marley’s Mutts took her in.
The rescue placed Freddie with a foster mom named Angela. Angela fell in love with Freddie and decided to adopt her officially. Moved by Freddie’s journey, Rocky wanted to celebrate her new home by taking her and Angela on a shopping adventure.
“When I see a dog like Freddie and how hard she fought to survive, I feel like she should be taken out for the best day ever,” Rocky said.
Rocky thought the first thing Freddie should pick out was her own dog bed. He placed three options on the floor, and Freddie immediately gravitated toward a tiny bed that resembled her. Since Freddie already had a home, Rocky decided to bring along a shelter dog named Bosco to join them. Freddie and Bosco teamed up to decide what to buy.
Because Freddie has difficulty walking, Bosco did most of the selecting. While he mostly chose things they both would enjoy, he picked some items just for himself, including a gigantic toy that was twice Freddie’s size! Bosco also selected a couple of water bowls, lots of treats, and a few more toys. Both dogs had a blast shopping.
At one point, Rocky had Bosco pick a bowl for Freddie. He placed three bowls on the ground and let Bosco choose. He picked a pretty pink bowl, and Freddie loved it.
After all that shopping, Bosco and Freddie were naturally hungry. For a special treat, Rocky bought them puppuccinos. Freddie enjoyed hers immensely!

To wrap up their fun day, Rocky took Bosco and Freddie to the park. They both had a wonderful time running around and enjoying the fresh air. It’s clear that Rocky succeeded in giving these two dogs their best day ever!
