A vet has shared his clever dog washing hack to make pet shampoo last longer while ensuring a properly clean pooch.
And it only requires one simple tool that you can get your hands on for as little as $2, if you don't already have one in your kitchen.
Veterinarian Dr Cliff Faver, who specialises in pet hair and skin health, says using a milk frother to froth pet shampoo into a foam can make a world of difference when it comes to your dog's bath time.

"We actually teach a technique called frothing," Dr Faver explains.
Dr Faver suggests taking a "coffee frother or a mixer" to froth the pet shampoo until it forms a decent foam before lathering it on your pet's fur.
"Frothing works really well because it sticks to the hair, it sticks to that coat and will stay on much better," Dr Faver says.
But he warns that this method only works efficiently if the product is given time to work.

"If you let that product [sit] on for five minutes instead of one minute or two minutes, it's going to grab more dirt," Faver explains.
"Because how the product works it grabs dirt, hangs on to it and when we rinse the product off, it takes the dirt with it. Well, if it didn't have enough time to grab dirt, then you just put product on and wasted it on that. So we wanna leave it on long enough."
According to Dr Faver, the recommended amount of time to leave the shampoo on is about five to ten minutes.
This unique pet washing technique is not only a great way to keep your dog squeaky clean but it means a little bit of product can go a long way.
Dr Faver says using this method, he is able to wash a 13 kilo dog with just a teaspoon of product. He says he's even able to wash a horse with just three to four tablespoons.

"A lot of people are so worried about the cost per bottle and really that's not the number that you should be looking at. You really should be looking at cost per bath because that's really the important part," Dr Faver explains, adding that it "comes down to the technique [rather] than the product itself."

Dr Faver, who is the founder, owner and chief veterinarian of Animal Health Services, is bringing his pet expertise to Australia this November to present his seminar 'Hair and Skin 101 – The Basis of all Grooming'.
Dr Faver says it's "all sorts of little tricks" like his frothing hack that can help dog owners and dog groomers "become much more efficient" and he can't wait to share his expertise with pet groomers and pet owners alike.
"I tell people it's not about a product, it's about a process and all the little pieces of the puzzle put together will give you great results."
Tickets to Dr Faver's seminars can be purchased here.
